What Is Puppy Yoga?

It is a fun, unique and cheerful experience blending two of people’s favourite activities—doing yoga and playing with puppies. And yes, it is just as simple as it sounds.
How did it begin?
Originally emerging in America around 2002 as Dog Yoga, aka Doga, it then spread around the globe and took on various shapes and forms: yoga with puppies, yoga with shelter dogs, cat and kitten yoga, and so on.
The idea behind puppy yoga
The idea behind it is pretty simple—you do yoga while your best friend rests nearby. And while Dog Yoga is still pretty popular, not everyone has a pet to share this special moment with. And that is when puppy yoga steps in—it gives you a perfect chance to enjoy this amazing experience even if you do not own a dog (yet).
As most breeders agree on the importance of puppies socialising and learning to be around people, being part of yoga classes gives pups lots of opportunities to interact with humans.
At Puppy Flow, we run weekend puppy yoga sessions in Parramatta, Sydney.
The puppies come first
The most important part of this, however, is always ensuring the puppies’ safety, wellbeing, emotional balance and health. At Puppy Flow, our team is always with the puppies, and attending to their needs is our main job and a priority during every session.
But rest assured—like all kids, these pups have lots of energy! With plenty of time to rest and recharge, there are lots of opportunities for love, cuddles and laughter.
